Digit.

Picture
Digit was my first rat. She was the most loyal pet I've ever known. I have yet to find another animal at all like her, and she will always hold a special place in my heart. Our time together was short, a mere few months, but it felt like a lifetime. I would do anything to have her back in my life, but sadly that is not possible. She has been gone for years and I still don't go a day without thinking about her. You can read more about her and our story here.

Sara.

Picture
After Digit died, Sara was there to keep a smile on my face. She got me through Digit's death, and she's helped me through lots of tough times in the past two years. She's content sitting in my lap while I'm crying, and she loves sitting on my shoulder when I'm out with friends or doing chores around the house. She's become rather clumsy in her old age, but I'm doing everything I can to keep her comfortable. She's had several close calls with death, but it just isn't her time to go. I'm hoping she stays with me for quite a while to come. I can't imagine life without her.

After over 3 years, Sara has passed. She died in her sleep on the night of March 12th. She was burried by a tree in the front yard under an angel statue. I believe she had what started out as a repiratory infection that could not be treated. It gradually got worse for over a year. In the end she began developing a cancerous tumor, and I'm fairly certain the cancer is what got her. She had a long, spoiled, happy life. She will be dearly missed by not only myself, but my family and friends. She was more than just a pet rat, she was a part of everyones lives around me. May she and Digit RIP <3

Dumbo.

Picture
Dumbo is really a piece of work. She is hands-down the smartest little creature I've ever known. She's a very scared and wild animal, but I love her nonetheless. I will continue to work with her and try to tame her to the best of my ability for as long as she lives. As crazy as she might be, I wouldn't change her for the world. Many people dislike her because of her wild personality, but I find it entertaining. I love watching her run around my room getting into all sorts of trouble. It breaks my heart to know that, after over a year, she's still scared of everything around her. She's scared of every little sound, but at the same time she's fearless. She will go anywhere and do anything she wants. She's just not fond of people at all. Despite that fact, she's the most gentle rat I have ever had. When hand feeding her, she is extremely careful not to accidentally nip your fingers. But I'm hoping for the best and I'm confident that she'll settle down when she's older.

Stromboli.

Picture
Stromboli, aka my big teddy bear. I bought him under the impression that he was a she. His testicles didn't develop until around 7 weeks. Needless to say, he no longer resides with me. He now stays at school under the care of my agriculture teacher and he lives with his son, Jimminy. Both Jimminy and Stromboli love sneaking out of their cage at night to sleep with a rabbit that is also kept in school. His favorite treat is oatmeal cookies, as is obvious from the photo.

Jamaica&Rasta.

Picture
These two little devils are the product of Dumbo and Stromboli. They were born on April 20, 2008. Jamaica (left) loves to wrestle and play hide and seek. She is very curious and knows just how to make me laugh. Rasta (right) is more into playing with her sister rather than playing with me. She's still a bit scared of people and noises, but we're working on it. It's so much fun to watch them wrestle and chase each other.
